Why copper cabling is so widely used

Copper is used for many systems on the grounds that it is ideal for the transport of electricity, being both flexible and resilient. Ideally, copper possesses a low level of resistivity, enabling it to have higher levels of electrical conductivity.

It’s easy to shape and bend, unlike many other metals that can conduct electricity, making copper suitable for system connection. It’s also won’t rust when exposed to moisture – but rather protects itself by forming a copper oxide “patina” – the greenish colour that may be familiar on building exteriors.
